Pre-Travel Soccer Program (also known as Youth Development Program, or YDP)

NOTE:  Due to the current COVID-19 situation, sessions are suspended until we are given the go-ahead to resume operations by state, local, and league officials.  The information below is still valid, except for the Spring 2020 dates.  These will be adjusted once we know when we can resume. 

Our Pre-Travel Soccer Program is for boys and girls ages 5-12, regardless of skill level or experience. 

The program's curriculum emphasizes development over winning. We play small sided scrimmages (games) and encourage maximum ball mastery to help them improve their skills and confidence. Combining these three elements with age appropriate coaching are key success factors for a player's development. The format also offers the player the opportunity to apply their learning in games without being “overcoached.“  This program differs from Nippers in that it includes multiple practice sessions each week, so that players develop their skills and confidence more quickly. 

The program requires a commitment by season.  A player can choose to play both Fall and Spring or to play only in the Fall or only in the Spring. 

So that all Pre-Travel players can participate in inter-club scrimmages, we obtain "Player Cards" from the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association.  After registering, you will be given a link to the NJYSA website so that you can upload proof of age and photo, and fill out insurance information and waiver form.

The season begins with scrimmages on Saturday, March 28, 2020.  The season ends with the last scrimmage on Saturday, June 13. The Pre-Travel Program fee is for a 10-week season, but as we cannot schedule make-up sessions that are cancelled due to weather or field conditions, the actual number of sessions may vary.

All scrimmages are held at the Mill Pond Soccer Complex (except for some inter-club scrimmages), Field #3 as follows:

Birth Years 2013-2014: Saturdays 10:00 - 11:30
Birth Years 2011-2012: Saturdays 10:00 - 11:30
Birth Years 2008-2010: Saturdays 11:30-1:00
There are no Saturday scrimmages on April 11 or May 23, but note that there will be scrimmages on April 18.

All practices for the Spring are also at Mill Pond, Field #3

Birth Years 2013-2014:  Wednesdays 5:00 - 6:30
Birth Years 2011-2012:  Wednesdays and Fridays 5:00 - 6:30
Birth Years 2008-2010:  Wednesdays and Fridays 5:00 - 6:30
There will be no practices on April 10, April 15, April 17, or May 22

In addition, we offer Bonus Training Sessions (no extra charge) at Mill Pond, Field #2 as follows:

Mondays 5:00 - 6:00:  Ball Skills
Mondays 6:00 - 7:00:  Goalkeeper Training
Mondays 6:00 - 7:00:  Speed and Agility
There will be no Bonus Sessions on April 13 or May 25.

We offer an early payment discount and multiple child discounts. If you will have three or more children participating in MTSC's programs, please contact our Club President  [email protected] before registering your children

Each player will receive a practice uniform, Jersey and age appropriate soccer ball (Players who play in the fall will keep the same uniform and ball for the spring season)

Base fees are below:

Birth Years 2013-2014 - $245
Birth Years 2008-2012 - $295

Early Payment - must be fully registered and paid before March 10 for Spring or August 10 for Fall - $25 discount.
Canceled Registration - We must charge for cancellations to offset our registration and uniform costs. Cancel on or before March 10 for Spring or August 10 for Fall - $25 fee per player; cancel after those dates - $50 fee per player.  Once training starts there are no refunds.
Family Discounts - 2nd child in a family is $25 discount - All additional children after the 2nd child are 100% free
